If your website or cPanel does not load, it's possible your IP is blocked by the server firewall. Most of these cases are associated with,
- Five or more invalid login attempts to cPanel or a related service (FTP, Mail Client, etc.) - This happens due to failed login attempts. It's also possible you have configured your mail client (Outlook, Thunderbird, etc.) with an invalid username or a password; and it keeps trying to establish a connection which results in blocking your IP again and again. You have to disable your mail client first.
- Web application firewall (WAF) rule violation - We have configured a WAF to protect your sites from common attacks. If there is a vulnerability that triggers a firewall rule, it can result in eventually blocking your IP or anyone who visits your website (sometimes it happens after showing 403 errors). You have to work with your developer to address these vulnerabilities to prevent this from happening.
How can I find the reason and get my IP unblocked?
In order to easily lookup for the reason and get yourself unblocked, we have implemented a Central Firewall Portal.
- Access https://manage.greenhost.lk/
- Navigate to "Services" from the top navigation menu
- Click on "Central Firewall Portal" to check if your IP is blocked
- You should be able to see the reason if your IP is blocked. If your IP is not blocked, you should be able to see "Your IP is not block on the server's firewall"
NOTE: You have to address the root cause highlighted in Central Firewall Portal in order to prevent your IP from being blocked again. You have to reset your passwords if your login attempt is invalid.
